Attractions for kids
The Salzburg Open-Air Museum invites young visitors to actively explore the houses on display, and offers a wide variety of additional attractions.

Heritage railway
A ride on the heritage railway is sure to set kids` hearts racing.

Adventure playground
A spacious adventure playground located right next to the museum`s restaurant „Salettl“ offers great slides and monkey bars as well as an attractive water play area.

Goat compound
In the months between May and October a herd of goats can be encountered in their own enclosure. The charming animals are among the museum`s favorites.

Natural Kneipp hydrotherapy area
The natural Kneipp hydrotherapy area features Kneipp basins, a pouring hose, fountain troughs for arm bath and a foot reflexology course, which all offer welcome refreshment on a hot day.

Historic classroom
The historic classroom at the Mesnerhaus (Mesner House) invites parents and kids to talk about the school of days past.

Butterfly-watching trail
Experience the large variety of butterflies native to the Untersberg foothills in a playful manner. The watch tower opens up a great view onto the surrounding bedding meadows.

Handcart
Handcarts are available for rental in the entrance hall (fee of EUR 4.00 at the museum`s shop). Bound to make the visit even more enjoyable for kids!

Picnic areas
Several rest and picnic areas invite you to take a rest along the way. The upper floor of the Salinenstadel (Saline Stable) in the Flachgau area serves as a covered picnic area.
